Mr. Russell’s career in the hospitality industry has spanned over 26 years. Carlton moved up the chain of command in varying resorts, however his tenure with his current employer began as Director of Food & Beverage at the Ocean Club in 1998. He moved to Atlantis in 2003 and has risen through the ranks to take on the role of VP Hotel, Food & Beverage Operations for the Cove & Reef Towers.
Carlton served as Senior Vice President of the Bahamas Hotel and Tourism Association (BHTA) from 2014 to 2016 and was appointed President of the BHTA in December 2016. As President, Carlton Russell will be responsible for guiding the organization in its efforts to achieve its mandate of facilitating the profitability, quality and sustainability of Tourism for the Bahamas. Carlton Russell, during his tenure as President will provide leadership and direction to the Executive Vice President, staff and varying special committees, garnering input from BHTA Executive Committee representatives, The Board of Directors, members and public and private sector partners.
Carlton Russell’s philanthropic contribution to the tourism industry is not limited to the Bahamas Hotel & Tourism Association; as he serves as Vice President of the Bahamas Hotel Employers’ Association, and Trustee for the Bahamas Hotel Industry Management Pension Fund and The Bahamas Hotel & Allied Industries Employees Assistance Fund. Mr. Russell is currently pursuing a PHD in Philosophy Management-Leadership and Organizational Change at Walden University, and holds a MBA in International Business from the University of Miami.
